naan varradukkuḷḷee avanga maamaave aḍakkam senjaanga
Before I could get there [to the funeral], they had laid my uncle to rest.
போக்குpōkku(pookku)(3 tr)cause to subside or allay, as fear, doubt, anxiety, etc.; put to rest
Usage:
அவன் பயத்தை யாரும் போக்க முடியாதுavaṉ payattai yārum pōkka muṭiyātu
avan bayatte yaarum pookka muḍiyaadu
Nobody is able to lay his doubts to rest.
